I had an interesting discussion today revolving around American students going to Mexico on Spring Break. It is such a popular option, it is hard to imagine that everyone will stay away due to the current conditions (and it is hard to imagine that all of those kids follow the news very closely). However, I now wonder if we will be hearing reports of disappearing Americans vacationing in Mexico.

ReplyDeleteI think that places like Cabo and such will likely stay fairly safe... My fear is violence spilling across the border and the number of armed incursions into U.S. territory by Mexican drug gangs, smugglers, and police/military units will increase.
ReplyDeleteThe U.S. needs to slap Mexico into shape a little bit, and if need be take over operations protecting U.S. citizens from violence spilling over into our country. Mexico has incentives to work with the U.S. to stop the violence, considering that its tourist industry must surely suffer from cartel violence.
